Manic Monday

Hey lovelies!

i can’t believe it’s been over a week since i last posted!

who else has had a rough week??! haha. well i have. but this too shall pass and we will move on to our bigger, brighter futures. :) i’m gonna start posting more regularly, hopefully from now on. i need the structure and creative release this brings! talking to y’all is almost like a journal, just not as much personal crap. only the things that inspire me :)

update on the homemade face wash: it kept better than expected till the end of the week and then it got runny, so don’t make too much at once! but i found it to be an excellent body wash! and my brother uses it as shampoo, and his hair looks gorgeous! who knew!?

all natural girl

hey y’all! i’m still alive, just haven’t been on tumblr in a while. i’m gonna start chronicling my newest adventure: home made all natural products. :) so far i’ve made a face wash, toner and facial.

here are my recipes!

face wash for all skin types:

1tbs honey

1tsp baking soda

mix together in the palm of your hand and apply using circular motions to your beautiful face! if you’ve had a bad day, leave it on for a few mins. light a few candles, turn up the john mayer and grab your fave magazine and enjoy it! okay, now that you’ve let your hair down and let the yuck of the day go, lets rinse. just warm up some water and rinse thoroughly. i like to rinse most of it off, then scrub lightly in a circular motion to get the surface dead skin cells off then rinse it all off. viole! skin as soft as a baby’s brand new bum! ;) total cost? about $1.50!!

i just made it in a large batch, but i don’t know if it’ll keep it’s va va voom. if you wanna try it in a larger quantity just go with a 3 parts honey to 1 part baking soda ratio. i’ll come back in a week and let y’all know if it kept as well as i’m hoping!

okay, you’ve got your skin freed from make-up, dirt, bacteria and oil. now you want a toner? gosh, you’re so high maintenance! no worries, i am too. ;) i had acne really bad when i was in high school, and now have scarring. i also tend to have oily skin. (this humid southern weather doesn’t help that any!)

this is a recipe for a toner especially good for oily/acne prone skin:

1cup water

1/3cup lemon juice

okay mix it up, put it in a bottle (your old toner bottle would be great since you already have it. think green!), and then moisten a cotton ball with it and rub in a circular motion on your skin.

boom. two ingredients. ten seconds. cost: roughly $0.25!!!

now, being women of the 21st century, we like to have a treat now and then. i found a recipe for a homemade facial using the same ingredients that we used in our toner and wash. this facial can be used up to three times a week and has anti-aging properties to boot, i hear.

for all skin types:

equal parts honey, extra virgin olive oil, and lemon juice.

mix it together. (shaking it in a tupperware container works super well and you can store it in there too.) okay, now slather it on! you can go for just a facial, or for a whole body rub, it’s up to you! okay, you know the drill. candles, spa music (or john mayer hehe), and your fave book. yeah, don’t try to hide it. we all know you’re reaching for twilight. own that vampire love. ;) okay let it sit for about 10-15 mins. then get in a nice hot bath or shower and let it all rinse off. ahhh. feel better? i know, it’s awesome! the total cost for this trip to the spa? around $2!!!

i looked up how much other all natural products similar to what we just made cost, and the total came to about $36!!! so with 5 super cheap ingredients you already had in your kitchen, we saved $33, you know exactly what you’re putting on your face and kept it all organic. i’d say that’s pretty good for one day. ;)
